Have you ever wondered where you came from or who you might be related to? My grandmother was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). She was always talking about 2nd cousins or 1st cousin once removed etc. I didn't have a clue what she was talking about, and as a child, had no real interest in understanding.

My daughter is now grown with 3 girls of her own, and I have finally become interested! I wanted to give them an idea of where they've come from. I come from a family of 6 children, and my husband had 8 children in his family. My daughter's cousins now how children of their own. Because my daughter and her husband have no siblings, my grandchildren have no "direct" cousins, however, they do have 2nd cousins and cousins twice removed!

With so many children between our 2 families, we are spread out all over the country. It makes it very hard to get to know all of your cousins and distant relatives. I got to thinking and decided why not put 2 of my passions together, genealogy and scrapbooking!

In my next post, I will tell you how I got started on my journey of putting together a genealogy scrapbook!
